Senior Transitions - Downsizing

Helping Seniors Find Their Next Chapter, With Care, Patience, and a Plan

Leaving a home you've lived in for decades is one of the most emotional moves a person can make. I know that, and I never take it lightly.

A few years ago, I helped a widow in her late 70s sell the home she and her husband had built their life in. Her children were involved. Her feelings were complicated. She loved that house, and she was also exhausted by it. We spent a lot of time on her front porch before we ever talked numbers, and by the time she handed over her keys, she felt confident about what came next.

That experience is why I created Nest Transitions. A move like this isn't just a transaction. It's a transition, and it deserves one steady hand holding the whole process together.

This Move Is Different. You Deserve Someone Who Gets That.

Downsizing later in life comes with layers most moves don't have. There's the emotional weight of a home full of memories. There's family input, often from adult children with opinions, sometimes living in different states. There's the question of what comes next: a smaller home, a condo, a 55+ community, or moving closer to the grandkids. And underneath it all, there's often a quiet grief that deserves to be acknowledged, not rushed past.

My job is to make sure you feel informed, supported, and never pressured at every stage.

What Nest Transitions Covers

Instead of juggling a dozen vendors, you have one person coordinating every piece.

  • An honest conversation first. I want to know about your timeline, your goals, and what you're hoping for on the other side of this move. No pressure, no pitch. Just listening and learning.
  • A plan for what's next. Whether that's a smaller home in Fort Collins, a low maintenance condo in Loveland, or a community designed for active adults, I'll help you weigh your options here in Northern Colorado, or beyond if you're moving closer to family.
  • Sorting a lifetime of belongings. We go through it together, at your pace, deciding what to keep, pass down, donate, or sell.
  • Estate sale and cleanout. My team handles the estate sale and clears out what's left, so you aren't left facing a full house.
  • Preparing your home to sell. Our crew takes care of the repairs and improvements that matter most for your home's value. High impact, low stress. Nobody is asking you to gut your kitchen.
  • Moving and settling in. I coordinate the movers and set up your new home so it feels familiar from day one.
  • Selling your home. As a licensed real estate broker, I sell your current home so the proceeds carry smoothly into your next chapter.
  • Trusted partners when you need them. From financial specialists to estate planning attorneys, I bring in professionals who work with seniors regularly and treat people with respect.
  • Keeping the family in the loop. If your adult children want to be part of the process, I welcome it. I'm used to working with families across multiple time zones and multiple opinions, and I know how to keep everyone moving in the same direction.
A note on pace: I've worked with clients who needed six months to feel ready to list, and clients who were ready to move in six weeks. Whether your move is weeks or years away, I follow your lead, not the market's.

This Is Personal for Me

Before real estate, I worked in mental health, supervising shifts at a psychiatric hospital and doing casework. That work taught me how to listen, how to meet people where they are, and how to notice the difference between what someone says they need and what they actually need. I bring that into every transition I guide.

Downsizing isn't just about selling a house. It's about honoring what that house meant, and finding something that fits who you are now and where you're headed.

Ready to Talk, or Just Have Questions?

There's no obligation and no rush. If you, a parent, or someone you care about is even beginning to think about what's next, let's have a conversation and see what feels right.
